VOLVO S 90 SEDAN
S90 looks elegant and powerfulWhen we designed our new executive sedan, says Volvo chief, we had a single aim: to create a car that would redefine the idea of luxury. The result is the new Volvo S90, a car that blends the best of Scandinavian design with advanced technology to give you a new experience, beyond the common place and everyday. A new kind of luxury. Swedish luxury. The powerful, low-slung body, with the classic Volvo hallmark of a wide and muscular shoulder line, expresses the
car’s intent. It’s confident and assured, the embodiment of a design philosophy that extends inside the car, where you’ll discover a cabin crafted from exceptional.
From any angle the S90 looks elegant and powerful. The short overhangs, long wheelbase and low roofline combine to create a solid, sculpted whole that is sophisticated and elegant. The muscular shoulder line is distinctly Volvo, anchoring the car to its heritage while connecting it to the future. The S90 is packed with innovative technology that has one purpose: to make your life easier, and one principle: it must be easy to use. A big touch screen means
we’ve been able to reduce the number of buttons to a minimum, and as it’s in portrait format, reading and scrolling maps is much easier. Run-off Road Mitigation is a worldfirst innovation that helps to steer you back on track if the car starts to veer off the road accidentally. This is our human-centric approach to technology – it works for you. Underneath the crisply sculpted exterior lies an all-new chassis that delivers the perfect combination of precise handling and welcome comfort. New double wishbone front suspension and integral axle rear suspension give you control over the car’s movement. The rear air suspension with active chassis has different settings to suit your mood, or the road, and keeps the car at the optimum level, regardless of load.
Combining powerful proportions with Scandinavian subtlety elevates the S90 beyond the everyday. The long bonnet and low roofline suggest power and grace, while the sculpted shoulder line identifies the S90 as a Volvo. Small details make a big impact. Fine detailing and bold shapes combine to create a strong impression. Integrated tailpipes add to the design’s coherence, while the shape of the LED rear lights gives the S90 real presence, whether moving or stationery.
Elegance, craftsmanship and technology. This is what the S90 is made of.

The all-new S90 S90's design was well-received, winning the Production Car Design of the Year award for 2015 at North American International Auto show in Detroit. Loaded with Technology and Luxury, it has Elegant exteriors, powerfully simple - the Volvo S 90 design speaks for itself. It applies Technology with semi autonomous driving technology inspired by concept 25 for safer driving and meaningful. The S90 is Volvo's flagship sedan and is available in a single variant – Inscription – in India. Volvo’s new four-cylinder-only engine strategy, for instance, has drawn mixed reviews, at least among the top-of-the-line T6 Inscription versions of the S90 sedan and the XC90 SUV. Both of these $56,000-plus models use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that, although turbocharged and supercharged to provide competitive performance, struggles to match the refinement and effortlessness of the competition’s six- and eight-cylinder powerplants. The ride is quiet and well controlled; steering is heavier than we’d like. Brakes are excellent. Tech includes Pilot Assist, which steers the car at up to 80 mph.
Volvo’s eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly and quickly. Its smartly spaced gearing makes the most of the engine’s powerband, with a strong swell of torque coming on low in the rev range and the transmission sorting out requests for more power with prompt downshifts. Fuel economy is a strong suit too.Volvo’s distinctive design sense makes the S90 a visual knockout—even without the glitz of the higher-trim Inscription model’s chrome accents and larger wheels. The less flashy T5 model remains elegant, understated, and attractive. Its clean, uncluttered lines and balanced proportions make for a sedan that’s stylish without being overwrought. The slightly plain rear end is the only note that falls a bit flat, as its C-shaped taillights make us think of a competitor for Volkswagen more than Mercedes-Benz. The seats, in the Volvo tradition, are supportive and comfortable. The dashboard looks modern with the large vertical touch-screen infotainment system at the centre. Devoid of many buttons like its competitors, the centre console looks uncluttered in a good way. The instrument cluster is a TFT screen that displays revs and speed through analog dials and a host of other information that can be viewed as per the driver’s preferences. The upholstery is in leather and the seats are power adjustable with memory function. Push-button start, adaptive cruise control, intelligent LED headlamps, sunroof and such other features are a standard. The cabin space is befitting the flagship luxury saloon with four-zone climate control, ventilated seats and armrests for both the rows.
The Volvo S90 has received five star safety rating by Euro NCAP. Tested against Euro NCAP’s 2017 test regime, the Volvo S90 surpasses the best overall score of any model tested for safety in 2016. As Volvo embarks on a plan to chase global luxury leaders such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW, it’s paving its own distinctly Swedish path.
